A fly in the debate ointment

During the Vice-Presidential debate, a fly landed on VP Pence’s hair because it liked the white landing strip. For a little over 2 minutes the fly caught our attention like a person without a mask behind us in a check-out line. It appeared to have one of its legs stuck in the hair gel that he uses. Its gyrations to un-stick itself could easily be seen with a magnifying glass.

A fly has not gotten this much visibility since that scene in the movie There’s Something About Mary when Ben Stiller’s character gets something stuck in a quick zip up. At that point of the movie 95% of men watching crossed their legs for the entire scene.

It was difficult to notice if the fly followed debate protocol and wore a mask. The insect has become an internet sensation as it cavorted (Or whatever flies do) on the Pence head. Did Kamala see it? If she saw the fly, was she conflicted about alerting Pence? Would he try to brush that fly off his head and would it muss his hair? His hair had never been scrutinized that much since a lice epidemic at his elementary school.

There is evidence that the fly was sent there on a mission from PETA in a calculated move to increase the fly’s viability as it promotes an appearance on the TV series All Creatures Great and Small.

Jeff Goldblum in happier days

Additionally, PETA, has endorsed the fly for public office and has produced a series of informational videos which can be seen on Youtube.  The fly’s platform is a shitty one.

Senator Rand Paul joked that the insect was a literal bug sent by “the deep state” to spy on Pence. The deep state said, “No, they don’t employ flies that get caught”

Jeff Goldblum, who starred in the 1986 movie ‘The Fly’ immediately called Pence to offer advice about when the fly begins to exhibit its natural tendency to hang out on shit, it’s not personal.

With its latest visibility the fly, whose name was not given, scored a cameo in the upcoming Fly 2 movie as someone running for office but landing on the head of a US official and in a huge plot twist, accidentally providing the deciding vote on a farm bill by getting a Congressperson to swat at it, but accidentally pushed the ‘Aye’ button for his vote.
