Couldn’t you see this one coming?
It isn’t enough that would -be politicians out there with a ‘story to tell’ are within the law, at least in Ohio, if they blatantly LIE? That’s right. You can LIE to the public and still be on the right side of the law.
A Federal judge in Cincinnati has struck down Ohio’s law forbidding lies in political campaigns, saying voters — not the government — should decide whether a campaign is telling the truth. We’re knee deep in an election cycle, and with all the ‘half-truths’ in TV commercials, we’re getting fed up with all the lies too.
Some politicians don’t care about lying to you. They also exercise their right to annoy America with a flood of blabber filled half-truths set to off key music and an announcing style that insults our intelligence.
Generally, we find out after they’ve been elected, they have ‘promised the world’ and then reneged on those promises once they’re in. Then it’s too late.
We should extend the ‘Do Not Call’ registry for politicians and not accept their lies either with a national ‘Do Not Lie’ list. If you break the rule and lie, your name goes on the list.
While we’re at it, why not an all-inclusive ‘Do Not Disturb’ registry
Sometimes you just want to scream “Don’t bug me!”
So let’s get behind a national ‘Do Not Disturb’ list just like the do not disturb sign on your hotel door. Make it a universal sign with a person holding their hands to their ears and place a vertical slash through it. It’s not only for personal use. Hang it on the City line, the County line, the State line. Countries can hang it on their borders when they don’t want to be bothered.
Wear a small one the size of a lapel pin to let people know how you feel. The problem is, they have to get in your face to read it.
