It’s the biggest job in the world and you want to no, need to be ready on day 1. No time for extraneous distractions. The trump transition is going full steam ahead here with a limited amount of time to get people in place to meet any contingency on a global stage. The safety and security of the United States could be at stake. Wow! This really takes the full attention of…..”whoa, wait a minute here, did Meryl Streep just say something about me that I don’t agree with?”
Meryl Streep, who has more Academy Award nominations than any other actor in history, received the lifetime achievement award at a Golden Globes ceremony and was called “An over-rated actress” by Donald Trump after she called him on mocking a disabled reporter.
Trump claimed, as he has in the past, that he never mocked the reporter, Serge Kovaleski of The New York Times. Video shows he did, flailing his arms in imitation: “You gotta see this guy.”
Streep said “”It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back.”
My opinion: When you must rail against any slight, perceived or not, and take to the media to assuage your feelings about it, you don’t have the emotional fortitude to benefit a divided country looking for intelligent and compassionate leadership.
