The Walt Disney Company announced it will cut funding to the Boy Scouts of America beginning in 2015 because of a policy that bans gay adult leaders in the organization.
Deron Smith, a Boy Scouts spokesman said, “This funding cut will impact our ability to serve kids. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to be a part of the Scouting experience even at night in a tent all by themselves to do whatever they like, and no, there’s no merit badge for that.”
Through the years various Disney characters have come out of the editing room as gay including its star, Mickey Mouse.
When asked for comment, Mickey replied, “I knew growing up, that there was something different about the way I was drawn to the other characters.
Donald duck was a hero to me. As a gay duck, he raised three children, not his own, from ducklings and they turned out fine.”
A spokesperson for Mickey said, “Walt was gay friendly. “If he were alive today and not just parked in ice in the attic of Snow White’s castle, he would first tell me to shave my face and then give me a big bear hug and say it was all right.
Walt set Minnie and me up as companions. In those days, if the public thought we were ‘shacking up’ let alone ‘gay’, no one would have ever watched our cartoon adventures. We were never married, it was more of a platonic relationship.”
Daisy Duck, Donald’s significant other said, “I had a thing for Mickey for the longest time in the early, pre TV days and didn’t know he was ‘drawn different’ “not that there’s anything wrong with that”, she playfully added.
