An appropriate Thanksgiving prayer for the harried shopper

Will the traditional Thanksgiving dinner turn out to be a breakfast on the run if America shops the malls on Thursday instead of ‘Black Friday’?

Big box retailers are moving their holiday sales earlier to grab the consumer dollar. Is it going to stop with an ‘end of year clearance’ in May?

We’ve just moved our clocks back with Daylight Savings Time. Are we moving into ‘Daylight Spending Time?’

Let’s take a moment here and ask for guidance with an appropriate Thanksgiving prayer.
Dear Lord, help us to get a good parking spot close to the action and be first in line when the doors swing open.

Give us to the strength to muscle into that sweet spot in the crowd which will enable us to make a bee-line to those big flat screens on special.

Make every purchase the purchase of a lifetime and Lord, let those who stand in our path hoping to block us from the limited supply of hi-res cameras at Best Buy reap their karma and find a low balance on their credit card.

Bless the little children and let them watch the cart while we dart about for that ultimate gift item.

Dear God, let there not be a hold on my debit card for I know my limits by heart.

And finally, help me to put my shoulder to the wheel, my nose to the grindstone and my credit card to the max.

Amen!
