The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is making its final preparations to send an orbiter to the Red Planet.

The spacecraft, named ‘Tandoori 1’ will collect scientific information about the planet’s atmosphere and see if the surface is as hot as the interior of a typical tandoori oven.

“If it is”, says scientist and chef Rami ‘Jim’ Patel, “then we can set up a series of kitchens and feed future missions.”

“I guess when we discovered a vindaloo base for the rocket fuel we were well on the way” said India Space Program Director Rami ‘Bob’ Patel. “That stuff is hot when we fuel it and even hotter as it exits.”

This occurred because although the rocketry team was Indian, even they could not pronounce the name of their space center which was located in Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta. It was easier to say ‘Houston.’

“If we can go to Mars, just think of how easy it will be to travel to Kashmir” said Raj ‘Norm’ Patel, a scientist on the ground.

“The rocket itself will usher in a new era of interstellar design and theatrical production” said Vijay ‘Pete’ Patel, “it will have flowing multi-colored robes that will drop off at the second stage which will reveal the entire command crew will in a choreographed number featuring female technicians lip synching the national anthem.
