Anthony Weiner vows to ‘keep it up’ but campaign fraught with ‘Danger’

With Anthony Weiner’s approval rating of 78% among young women 18 to 26 you would think he could have run on the ‘Caligula’ ticket back in ancient Rome and win a seat in the Roman Senate hands down. (What were those girls thinking?)

If you look at who organized that survey, you’ll find out.

It was conducted of 18,231 women on the illicit dating website SeekingArrangement.com. The site pairs ‘gentlemen’ and ‘sugar babies’. They define ‘gentleman’ in part, “No matter what your desires may be, you are brutally honest about who you are, what you expect and what you offer.”

We know what Weiner offered. ‘It’ was plastered throughout the media like Krylon spray from an out of control graffiti artist who never kept his mental health appointment.

But no self-respecting reality show devotee could avert their eyes. We watch the ‘Biggest loser’ to see who will drop out so we can refill our mega drink cup and dip bowl and still feel good about it.

When something’s posted on line it never comes down. The name ‘Weiner’ will be forever etched on a world-wide subway wall with a shaky hand.

Don Juan, Romeo and Casanova take a back seat, because Anthony’s driving the train to perdition and there’s no ‘dead man’s brake’ to halt that runaway ego.

What is there about exposé, the inevitable apology and atonement that he doesn’t get?
Whether he loses or drops out, let’s hope he doesn’t catch the ear of a reality show producer who will think that America needs more.

What would the show be? Keeping up with the Weiners, Deadliest Thatch or The real Politicians of New York City?

I opt for ‘Arrested Development’.
