Was it possible to turn the normal historically smarmy, name calling, American political animal into a rabid, misogynistic, race baiting ‘play to the lower nature’ of a small percentage of citizens bent on ‘taking America back’ scenario? The better question is ‘back to what’.
Question: Can you name a presidential candidate in the history of this country who would goad a crowd to anger at one of his rallies and direct his security guards to throw out a protester? “Throw them out into the cold,” Trump ordered security, as protesters shouted “Bernie! Bernie!” during a rally on a cold night in Burlington, Vt. “Don’t give them their coats,” Trump added. “No coats! Confiscate their coats.”
We have seen from the type of character that exists in this reality show rally of miscreants of the far right, the rise of the type of persons who do not want to move forward but step back and disavow fellow citizens their guaranteed voting rights under the Constitution, yank woman’s hard fought and won rights back to the days when they were second class citizens and deny anyone who doesn’t look like them the right of free speech in a Democracy. A trump rally stinks of this. The videos of people being forcibly ejected from his rallies smacks of Nazi-ism.
Scratch the surface of Trump’s bombast and you see a reality show host playing to an audience who zealously applauds his every line but doesn’t care what he stands for. He promises everything with off the cuff language that street thugs understand and when he goes too far, they love him more.
It’s his way or the highway and he doesn’t care what he calls his opponents as long as the crowd eats it up. There has never been a display like this in American politics and the world is looking on with horror and amazement. If this low level hack wins his party’s nomination. It’s a direct result of the erosion of our inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution by extremists on the right over these past 8 years. In particular, it’s the political polarization by the Supreme Court by declaring that money counts in politics and you don’t have to know from where it came. Thus billionaires are funding super PACS that take on issues and promote candidates and you can’t find out who’s behind the curtain or what their agenda is
According to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, Trump is absurdly vague on how he would “make America great again.”
It’s not the size of your hands Donald, it’s the quality of your character. You’re treating America like a contestant on a reality show and what will get fired next, democracy?
